07/28/01--First night on board at Kerr Lake, temp.105-- hot!!! we were lucky still at dock and we have AC. Temp. inside boat 80 Deg.07/29/01 ckecked all line and keeper at top of mask, also had to strighten out wind vane. With the use of mask ladder and a boatsun chair, going to the top is easy.
07-02-01 moved onto to boat start tring to find aplace for all the junk.
07-04-01 first trip across the lake and up river, 60 mile round trip . great day have lunch at the bottom of Webber Falls Dam. Try to sail some not much wind.
07-05-01 -- 07-09-01 clean and finding where we put things .Temp 100 + each day tring to stay cool.
07-10-01 Made our 2nd trip across the lake, went to the southwest corner and back to the dam . Had good wind and sailed at 4 kns for 6hours. great day
07-13-01 the day things wanted to break, first a leak at y valve not good had to clean bilge. Found broken bilge pump. Thing run in 3 so next the VHF radio ant. short out.
07-14-01 good day weather cooler high 93 thing are coming together . didn't break anything.
07-15-01 --07-17-01 last trip back to OkC to sell car and say good by.
07-09-01 friday we left Apple Gate Cove Marina about 8:30 am. There was a strong wind blowing and we motored to Lock 15 A waman who had experience going through locks showed us what she used to get the rope around the bollard She used a broom handle with a loop in the end of it. We were able to us the jib for about 2/3 the way to ft.Smith. got to Ft. Smith about 3pm. Anchored down stream from the bridge, went 32.8 miles first day. The Blues fest Started at 5pm. and went to 12pm. Storm hit just after midnight. We had set 2 anchors, it rained off and on all weekend.
09-09-01 Sunday moring we invited to Clentis and Tommie Lees houseboat for pancakes. After breakfast we pulled our anchor and head down to Goose Harbor in Van Burren,AK. Topped up our fuel and did a walking trip up town. The sun had come out so we went on down river to Massard Creek and tied up at the dock in the park, in 4 foot of water. We were able to take on water and get a good nights rest. Also solar shower works great. Make for a better day.
09-10-01 Monday was ver cold and clear. There was some fog on the river, we went through Lock 13 about 9 am. and every thing went fine. Went 21 miles that day and set anchor in Mulberry river at mile 271.4 It was warm and sunny all day . Set 2 anchors back one had to be reset.
Tuesday morning was cool with fog and light breeze,were under way by 8 am. Next stop Ozard Ak. Tied up at dock across the river from town, took dingy to town did a 1hour walking tour.When back to boat and we listneing to 2-meter radio and found out about the terrorist attack.Didn't know what kind of new regulation the coast Guard would issued for the river and lock. They were just telling everone to call in to get ok. VHF radio had new upadate all night.
